Cycles of the Grape

I practice commercial photography in Alexander Valley in California's North Sonoma County. It is a beautiful farming area. I am blessed by the opportunities I have to work in the midst of such an abundance of visual beauty. The photos show a small part of the process of making the wine: New Spring Growth, the Pick, the Waiting in the Oaken Barrels, the final offering of a finished wine. What a way to make a living! H

This is one of my photographic images and it is also the logo for my band, 45-90. It is of the cap end of a 45-90 cartridge. The 45-90 rifle was a model '86 Winchester rifle, and it was the rifle my grandfather used on the plains and during the Alaskan Gold Rush. He also had it on his farm that he homesteaded in the foothills of Mt. Rainer. I wanted to have something of my past history included in my current and future history.

I've spent the past three months writing songs for 45-90 (my band), for Little Wolf and the Hellcats (a blues band Out of th eBay Area, and for a United Church of Christ praise Book out of Cleveland. With all of that in the works, one of my accounts in Berkeley needs photography. Busy, busy, busy. Like I tell my wife, Cherie, "I'm having my dreams come true, and it seems they're all coming true on the same day." Also, the lead guitar player for 45-90 is in a band (Tabaltix) that has a recording contract with a label, and has had to leave us, so I am now searching for another who can play real old time rockabilly, blues, and country. This blog is an experiment. I am not sure what a blog is, and I am not sure how useful a blog might be. So I thought that I would give one a try and see what happens.

I juggle several professions: I am a photographer, a singer/songwriter, the pastor of a small church, I teach at a seminary, I have a rockabilly band. I guess I just like to keep busy.

LIfe is good, but sometimes it is really fast. H
